B. Ed. Grad Dip Child & Adol Psych, MAPS
I have been a registered psychologist since 1996 and am a member of the Australian Psychological Society. I have extensive experience working with adults throughout the lifespan with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, grief and trauma.
I have also had many years of experience in secondary school settings and work with children from thirteen years of age presenting with anxiety, depression, self-harm, grief and school refusal. I supervise school psychologists and have run grief programs in schools.
My main areas of therapeutic interest are trauma and women’s ante and post-natal care. I use various treatment modalities to customise a treatment plan for individuals to maximise positive change and support.
Most importantly my focus is on the therapeutic relationship, working collaboratively with the client to build on their strengths to bring about meaningful change in their lives.
Ms Lisa Bartels
Counselling Psychologist
B.A., DIP.ED., POST GRAD DIP PSYCH., M.PSYCH. (COUNSELLING), MAPS.
I am an experienced Counselling Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. I have worked for many years in the Western suburbs of Melbourne in academic settings, not for profit organisations and in private practice.
My work encompasses treatment of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, complex and single incident trauma, managing life transitions and grief. I work with clients from across the life span, from adolescents to older adults. I draw on my knowledge and training in a range of psychological treatment modalities to customise a treatment plan which specifically addresses my clients’ individual needs.
In addition to treatment of mental health issues, I have a strong interest and experience in relationship and couple therapy. I have undertaken specific training in this area and bring these skills to my work with couples and individuals who are experiencing difficulties or those who wish to improve the quality of their relationships.
The foundation of my work is a strong belief in the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. I work collaboratively and empathetically and always aim to bring about positive and sustainable change for my clients.

I draw on a range of evidence based therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema therapy. I am also trained in clinical hypnosis.

My practice is informed by a neurodiversity affirming framework and strive to provide a space where a person’s intersectionality and autonomy is prioritised. All variations of neurodivergence are welcome, whether this be innate or acquired, self-identifying or formally diagnosed.
Therapeutically, I work with adolescents and adults alike, utilising modalities like Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Importantly, the area of focus when using such approaches is client-driven and can range from addressing mental health problems (e.g., anxiety) to developing self-identity and self-advocacy skills.
I also work with adults for assessment of either/or Autism and ADHD, but welcome any and all enquiries about possible exploration of other neurodivergent identities too.
